How was your July 4th weekend? My weekend was filled with the beauty of the Rio Grande State Park with little to no cell service which was MOSTLY glorious. Sometimes I need my phone to physically enforce going off the grid for me to disconnect. The only bad thing was… I have 100% migrated to streaming radio for my running entertainment. This meant I had to run my entire 6 mile run… in silence. (Gasp!) To my surprise, it wasn’t that bad. I think it had something to do with the glorious views.
I thought y’all would like to know my go-to entertainment when running.
- Podcasts: If you have an iPhone, download the Podcast app and search through some of my favorite channels (Radiolab, Stuff you should know, or Dan Pink Office Hours). You can download them to your phone and listen to them when you’re offline.
- Nashville: I only allow myself to watch the tv show Nashville when I’m on the treadmill. I use it to lure myself out of bed and into my tennis shoes. You can use netflix or hulu on your iPad or rent/purchase tv shows from iTunes.
- Spotify Themed Playlists: I recently discovered the “Workout” themed playlists available on Spotify and love them. My favorite is called Power Walk. I also love Songs to Sing in the Shower
- Ted Talks: If you haven’t heard of Ted Talks, google it and you’ll thank me later.
After my 4th of July run, I basically drank vino and played all the day long.
Question of the Day: How do you entertain yourself on a run?
